On Thursday, animator Yoshitaka Kohno’s death was announced on Twitter by Makoto Tamaru.
Kohno had disclosed having a seizure and having a wound from a few months prior.
After earning his diploma from Miyajima Technical High School, he worked for a number of animation companies, including Ashi Productions, AIC, and ufotable.
The characters for Magical Canan and Magical Girl Pretty Sammy were created by Kohno. He animated for many anime series, such as Shangri-La, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Berserk: The Golden Age Arc III – The Advent, Magical Girl Pretty Sammy, Tenchi Forever!: The Movie, Martian Successor Nadesico: The Motion Picture – Prince of Darkness, Queen’s Blade: Beautiful Warriors, and Bleach. For Bleach the Movie: Memories of Nobody, Ah!, he was also the animation director. The movie My Goddess Battle Athletes Victory, Tenchi Muyo GXP, Magical Canan, God Mars: Untold Legend, Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure, and Touken Ranbu are all examples of katsugeki.
