The 47th edition of this year’s Weekly Shnen Champion magazine from Akita Shoten revealed on Thursday that Kanji Igari, the character based on real-life wrestler Antonio Inoki, will have an epilogue tale written by Baki manga writer Keisuke Itagaki.
On October 1, Antonio Inoki succumbed to sickness.
On October 27, the 48th edition of Weekly Shnen Champion will debut the memorial epilogue.
The whole nine chapters of Baki The Grappler Gaiden (Outside Story), which depicts the battle between Kanji Igari and Mount Shhei Toba, were released for free on October 6 as an early memorial for Inoki on the Manga Cross website run by Akita Shoten. 1999 saw the debut of the Outside Story series.
The publication also disclosed on its website that it will publish the upcoming chapter of Yuria Fujita’s manga Yenchi: Baki Gaiden (Amusement Park: Baki Side Story) in the 52nd issue of the publication this year.
The Baki manga franchise was adapted into a light novel series by Baku Yumemakura called Yenchi: Baki Gaiden (Amusement Park: Baki Side Story). It is based on the Baki manga series by Keisuke Itagaki. In May 2018, Yumemakura and Fujita published the first volume of their light novel series in Weekly Shnen Champion.
The 42 combined book volumes from Akita Shoten have sold more than 63 million copies of Keisuke Itagaki’s original Baki The Grappler (Grappler Baki) martial arts manga, which appeared in the Weekly Shnen Champion magazine from 1991 to 1999. An original video animation (OVA) volume and two television anime seasons were released for the series.
