Double-masked flautists in an advertisement cause hilarity in Hong Kong.

On social media, youngsters in Hong Kong were mocked for practicing the flute while wearing double masks.

Prior to China’s National Day on October 1, the advertisement was put online by Hong Kong’s Education Bureau.

Additionally, it follows Hong Kong’s earlier announcement of an expansion of Covid restrictions, including masking.

It is one of the only cities that has continued to implement rigorous Covid restrictions since the epidemic hit.

The kids of Hong Kong are the focus of the “Young China Says” film, which features several pupils displaying their artistic talents in calligraphy, singing, martial arts, and musical acts.

Invited to take part in the more than 5-minute movie were more than 400 students from 41 high schools.

The video was made public on September 21 by the Hong Kong Education Bureau in honor of China’s national day, which falls on October 1.

Two masked schoolgirls are seen playing the flute side by side at the 45-second point of the video, with what looks to be a second flap covering the instrument.

Social media was used by users to mock the advertisement.

South China Morning Post reporter Jeffie Lam tweeted, adding the hashtag #maskingtilltheendoftheworld, “This city never ceases to astonish me.”

“This is going to lead to so many jokes,” read another Facebook comment.

This is how terrified Hong Kong is about Covid, according to a Twitter user.

Hong Kong said earlier this week that Covid limitations, such as social withdrawal and the wearing of masks in cars and some public places, will be in effect until at least October 5. This announcement coincided with the publication of the video.

Hong Kong has closely followed China’s lead when it comes to Covid rules, which critics claim has hurt the economy and reduced Hong Kong’s appeal as a corporate centre.

Hong Kong is still one of the few cities on earth that still requires foreign visitors to quarantine upon arrival, but officials are poised to announce a change to the rule on Friday that is sure to be greatly anticipated.

Since the outbreak, China has maintained a stringent zero-Covid policy that has resulted in rolling lockdowns, severely constrained travel inside the nation, and widespread Covid testing that frequently takes place without prior warning.
