On Saturday, the Tomo-chan Is a Girl! (Tomo-chan wa Onna no Ko!) television anime received new cast members and a new video, both of which were unveiled at the Aniplex Online Fest 2022 event.
Yoshitsugu Matsuoka and Khei Amasaki, who play Tatsumi Tanabe and Kosuke Misaki, respectively, are among the new cast members (pictured second).
In January, Crunchyroll will stream the anime’s world debut. Members of the voice cast who have already been disclosed are:
- Rie Takahashi as Tomo Aizawa (in Japanese)
- Lexi Nieto as Tomo Aizawa (in English)
- Kaito Ishikawa as Junichiro Kubota (in Japanese)
- Sally Amaki as Carol Olston (in Japanese and English)
- Rina Hidaka as Misuzu Gundo (in Japanese)
Together with her assistant Noriko Hashimoto, Hitoshi Namba is directing the animation for Lay-duce. Shiori Hiraiwa is creating the characters, while Megumi Shimizu is working as the lead writer (Banished From The Heroes’ Party, My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!). The soundtrack is being composed by Masaru Yokoyama, who also composed the music for Horimiya and Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans.
The manga is published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment, and it gives the plot’s summary as follows:
Boyish high school student Tomo Aizawa finally has the courage to confess her infatuation for Jun, a lifelong friend. He didn’t even know she was a female until middle school, and even now, Jun still thinks of her as a bro, thus her revelation unfortunately completely escapes his notice. How is it possible for Tomo-chan to persuade Jun to change his mind?
Beginning in April 2015, Yanagida published the manga as a four-panel comic on Seikaisha’s “Twi4” (Twitter 4-koma) Twitter account. It then continued on the Saizensen website of the firm. The 2015 Tsugi ni Kuru Web Manga Awards were presented to the manga by Da Vinci and streaming service Niconico.
The eighth volume of the manga—which was released in September 2019—was the last one.
