More cast members for Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre, a new animation based on the many tales of horror manga creator Junji Ito, were unveiled during the Netflix Tudum Japan livestream event on Sunday. The anime’s Netflix launch date is January 19, 2023, according to the event.
The new cast members are: (character name romanizations are not official)

- Iori Nomizu as Kagumi Fujino (“The Hanging Balloons”)

- Yumiri Hanamori as Tsukiko Izumisawa (“Tomie: Photo”)
- Taku Yashiro as Yamazaki (“Tomie: Photo”)
- Tomokazu Sugita as Tachi (“Tomie: Photo”)
- Hiroyuki Yoshino as Kimata (“Tomie: Photo”)
- Yuji Mitsuya as Sōichi (“The Room With 4 Walls”)
- Yoshimasa Hosoya as Kōichi (“The Room With 4 Walls”)

Additionally, Ito’s “Where the Sandman Lives” (Suima no Heya) tale will be included in the anime.
The anime will feature 20 Ito tales that are being animated “for the first time.” Among other volumes, the anime will incorporate tales from The Hanging Balloons, Tomie, and Sichi volumes.
Ito recently disclosed that a new animation project for his It Junji Kesssaku-sh (Junji Ito Masterworks Collection) manga collection was in development. Ito’s more well-known works are included in the manga collection, which contains 11 volumes in total and was released between 2011 and 2013.
