The two brand-new original video animation (OVA) episodes “Two Shots” and “All or Nothing” will be included in the Yu Yu Hakusho 30th anniversary box set, which will be released on January 31 via Crunchyroll. For the first time, the two episodes will be dubbed in English. Cast members from the original Funimation dub will return.
In October 2018, the new OVA made its premiere at a screening event before shipping in the same month with the fourth disc of the anime’s 25th Anniversary Blu-ray Box set. The manga’s seventh volume’s “Two Shot” bonus chapter and its penultimate chapter, “All or Nothing,” were both adapted for the new anime.
The original Yu Yu Hakusho manga was published from 1990 to 1994 by Yoshihiro Togashi (Hunter x Hunter).
In addition to printing all 19 volumes, Viz Media started publishing the manga in the English version of Shonen Jump in 2002.
The manga centers on Yusuke Urameshi, a 14-year-old misbehaving boy who perishes after rescuing a youngster in a vehicle accident. After learning of his passing, the Spirit World gives him the opportunity to return as a “spirit investigator” entrusted with exterminating demons.
Two movies and two original video anime (OVA) releases were produced as a result of the television anime adaptation, which aired from 1992 to 1995.
In North America, the TV shows and OVAs were made available on home video by Funimation.
The first movie was distributed by Media Blasters and afterwards by Funimation, while Central Park Media published the second movie. Both Adult Swim and Toonami carried the TV show.
A stage production based on the manga debuted in Japan from August to September 2019. A Netflix live-action series is also being inspired by the manga.
