On November 1 at 11:00 a.m. JST, Yko Tamotsu (Midnight Occult Civil Servants) will release a new manga titled Mahtsukai no Hanzaissa (Magician’s Criminal Investigation), according to a tweet from Kadokawa’s Comic Newtype website on Friday.
The protagonists of the buddy mystery manga are a magician who has been wrongly convicted of something and a detective who is deeply committed to justice.
May 2015 saw the publication of Tamotsu’s Mayonaka no Occult Kmuin (Midnight Occult Civil Servants) manga in Kadokawa’s Monthly Asuka magazine. The manga was also published online at Kadokawa’s Comic Newtype. As of February 22nd, the manga was over. On March 23, Kadokawa released the manga’s seventeenth and last volume.
An anime television series that debuted in April 2019 was inspired by the manga. Both Crunchyroll and Funimation broadcast the Japanese original of the show. Episodes 13 through 15 of the program were also shown on Crunchyroll in September 2019. After broadcasting on Hikari TV from September to October 2019, the episodes were released on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in Japan. In November 2019, the manga’s 12th volume and an original animation DVD were released.
The manga also served as the basis for a novelization written by Masumi Suzuki, which the Kadokawa Horror Bunko imprint released in July 2018.
