During podcast with Nazanin Mandi and Nadia Mohan conversation turned into parenting and the sex talk then the rapper T.I sayd that his he took her 18 year old daughter Deyjah Harris who just began her first year of college to gynecologist each year to check if her hymen is still intact.
He also said “Right after her birthday, we celebrate, then usually like the day after the party, she’s enjoying the gifts, I put a sticky note on the door: ‘Tomorrow. 9:30,’ ”
After Harris’s 16 birthday her annual trip to gynocologist to check her hymen got started revealed by her own father Rapper T.I.
T.I also told that his daughter’s doctore required her to sign a waiver which allow him to see the result of her examination.
Rapper T.I Said “So we’ll go and sit down and the doctor will come and talk, and the doctor’s maintaining a high level of professionalism. He’s like, ‘Well you know, sir, I have to, to share information’ — I’m like, ‘Deyjah, they want you to sign this so we can share information. Is there anything you would not want me to know? See, Doc? Ain’t no problem.’ ”
Rapper also said that he let her daughter’s gynecologist to explin her other ways by which hymen can become streched open such as riding bike, horseback riding or other physical activities.
Mandi and Moham laughed because of the things said by The Rapper and one host also said “Somebody check on Deyjah, she’s a prisoner in her home.”
This statements of The Rapper T.I got viral on twitter and Harris’s also got several tweets regarding her father criticizing her father with labels like disgusting, possessive and controlling on this wednesday.
Jen Gunter responded to this story on twitter and said “horrible” and provided an in-depth explanation of why the hymen is not a valid way to gauge a woman’s virginity. “The hymen is no virginity indicator, 50% of sexually active teens do not have a disrupted hymen,” she wrote. “The hymen is often very flexible.”
She said “As someone who damaged her hymen while riding a bicycle at 11 years old, Jenn Jackson, an assistant professor for political science at Syracuse University, found T.I.’s anecdote particularly troublesome. Harris’s experience likely resonates with many women, especially black women from religious families, who are led to believe their sexual organs are tied to their value and self-worth.”
