The Summer Time Rendering anime adaptation of Yasuki Tanaka’s thriller manga debuted on Disney+ Hotstar on Wednesday. The anime’s complete episodes are available on the streaming platform.
On the Tokyo MX and BS11 networks, the animation made its debut on April 14.
The new animation is only being streamed internationally on Disney+, a service provided by The Walt Disney Company in Japan. Following airing, TVer will also stream it in Japan. The 25-episode series covers the whole manga. The anime’s second half debuted on July 7.
The plot is as follows, according to Disney+ Hotstar:
Following his friend Ushio’s burial, Shinpei returns. There is a problem with her apparent drowning.
The animation was directed by Space Brothers and Children of the Sea’s Ayumu Watanabe. The series composition and storyline were under the direction of Hiroshi Seko (Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan, Mob Psycho 100). Character design was done by Miki Matsumoto (Major 2, Angels of Death). The artwork was under the direction of Kusanagi (Higurashi: When They Cry – GOU and SOTSU, 22/7). The soundtrack for MONACA was composed by Keiichi Okabe, Ryuuichi Takada, and Keigo Hoashi of the NieR series.
The initial opening theme song for the anime’s first half, “Hoshi ga Oyogu,” by the rock group Macaroni Enpitsu, was performed. The anime’s opening theme song, “Kaika,” by the musician cadode, served as his significant stage debut.
The 13th and final volume of the manga was released in April 2021 after Tanaka debuted it on Shonen Jump+ in October 2017. In January 2019, Shueisha released the English translation of the manga as part of their MANGA Plus program. The manga for printing was licensed by Udon Entertainment.
A live-action version of the manga is also in the works.
The “time leap adventure game” Summer Time Rendering Another Horizon will be released by MAGES. on January 26 for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
