The third “Art of Anime and Everything Cool” auction by Heritage will take place from September 23 to 26. More than 900 anime objects, including memorabilia from Akira, Evangelion, Dragon Ball Z, Pokémon, Cowboy Bebop, Card Captor Sakura, and a number of Studio Ghibli movies, will be offered during the auction.
The “Everything Cool” area will feature items from classic American animation and comics, just as the previous auction.
In total, more than US$2.1 million was raised during the inaugural Art of Anime and Everything Cool Auction in June 2021. The auction claimed sell-through rates of 100% by value and 99.8% by number of items sold. It was the first auction including anime art materials to be conducted by a significant U.S. auction house, and it had 928 items. The second auction in December set a new record with bids totaling US$2.6 million.
