The television anime adaptation of Fumita Yanagida’s Tomo-chan Is a Girl! (Tomo-chan wa Onna no Ko!) manga debuted new cast members and a new video on Saturday at the Aniplex Online Fest 2022 event.
The new cast members include Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Tatsumi Tanabe and Khei Amasaki as Kosuke Misaki (seen first below) (pictured second).
Crunchyroll’s streaming service will host the anime’s January debut. The voice cast members that have already been made public are:
- Rie Takahashi as Tomo Aizawa (in Japanese)
- Lexi Nieto as Tomo Aizawa (in English)
- Kaito Ishikawa as Junichiro Kubota (in Japanese)
- Sally Amaki as Carol Olston (in Japanese and English)
- Rina Hidaka as Misuzu Gundo (in Japanese)
The animation at Lay-duce is being directed by Noriko Hashimoto and Hitoshi Namba. Megumi Shimizu is in charge of writing, while Shiori Hiraiwa is in charge of character design (Banished From The Heroes’ Party, My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!). 2019’s Fruits Basket has music by Masaru Yokoyama (Horimiya, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans).
The manga is written in English and is published by Seven Seas Entertainment.
Tomo Aizawa, a boyish high school student, finally has the courage to confess her infatuation for Jun, a lifelong friend. He didn’t even know she was a female until middle school, and even today, Jun still views her as a bro, thus her confession sadly goes straight over his head! How can Tomo-chan persuade him otherwise and gain Jun’s affection?
Beginning in April 2015, Yanagida published the four-panel manga on Seikaisha’s “Twi4” (Twitter 4-koma) Twitter account, where it remained until it was finished on the Saizensen website of the firm. The second Tsugi ni Kuru Web Manga Awards were given to the manga in 2015 by streaming service Niconico and Da Vinci.
The eighth volume, which was released in September 2019, marked the manga’s conclusion.
