A television anime special is being inspired by Ryohgo Narita’s Fate/strange Fake offshoot narrative, it was revealed on Saturday at the Aniplex Online Fest 2022 event. On December 31, as part of the yearly Fate Project New Year’s TV Special, the Fate/strange Fake -Whispers of Dawn- special will premiere.
In Snowfield, a city in the western United States, Mages and Heroes are engaged in a new Holy Grail War.
Aniplex of America will manage the dubbing and simultaneous distribution of the special with English subtitles. The actors who speak both Japanese and English are:
- Kana Hanazawa and Anjali Kunapaneni as Ayaka Sajyō
- Yūki Ono and Ben Balmaceda as Saber
- Tomokazu Seki and David Vincent as Archer
- Yū Kobayashi and Marin Miller as Lancer
The special is being directed by Takahito Sakazume and Shun Enokido, who previously directed episodes of Flip Flappers and Fate/Grand Order commercials for A-1 Pictures. The characters are being created by Fate/Ykei Apocrypha’s Yamada, while the soundtrack is being created by Attack on Titan and Mobile Suit Gundam UC’s Hiroyuki Sawano.
The Fake/states night tale was initially published by Narita (Baccano!, Durarara!) on April 1st, 2008 as an April Fool’s prank. Before releasing a full-fledged light novel series with artwork by Shizuki Morii in January 2015, Narita first wrote the narrative as a Fate/strange Fake supplement for the Type-Moon Ace Vol. 2 magazine. In February, the seventh volume of a light novel was released by Kadokawa’s Dengeki Bunko label. The manga adaptation has also been drawn concurrently by Morii.
