On December 22, D3 Publisher will release Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair on the Switch in Japan, the company said at a panel at the Tokyo Game Show on Saturday.

Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair was first made available on the PlayStation 4 in North America by XSEED in December 2015, and then globally by D3 Publisher in July 2016 through Steam. In April 2015, the PS4 game was first made available in Japan. For the PS4 and PlayStation Vita, D3 Publisher released this game: Wingdiver the Shooter in November 2017.

In 2006, Xbox 360 users may download Earth Defense Force 3 for the first time. Earth Defense Force 2017 was the title given to the PS Vita game when it was released in Japan in September 2012 and in North America and Europe in January 2013.
